Ablin Evgeniy Mikhailovich

Artist, sculptor-monumentalist. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1956). Honored Artist of Russia (1997). Known as the author of large mosaic panels in the architecture of public buildings in the USSR, a master of bionic and abstract forms. In 1948 he graduated from the Moscow Secondary Art School. Between 1948 and 1949 studied at the Moscow State Art Institute named after Surikov, from which he was expelled. In 1950 he entered the Moscow Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts, faculty of monumental painting. In 1952 he was transferred to the Higher Art and Industrial School named after. V. N. Mukhina in Leningrad. In 1955 he made his first trip to the Khibiny Mountains, where he painted a number of landscapes of the Arctic. In the period from 1959 to 1962. takes part in a competition to design the facades and interiors of the Moscow Palace of Pioneers on the Lenin Hills. Famous works by E. Ablin: wall painting in the Sverdlovsk local history museum “Press Shop” (1956-1958); “Landscapes of the Urals” in the factory canteen in Verkhnyaya Pyshma (1956-1958); mosaic in the restaurant of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance building (1966); facade and interiors of a new shopping center in Zelenograd (1970); mosaic facades of the Television Center in Tashkent (1972-1978); mosaic in the courtyard of the Bataysk City Palace of Culture (1977); facade of the Palace of Culture of the Krasny Aksai plant in Rostov-on-Don (1978-1979); Stroginsky Bridge in Moscow (1982). In 2008, on the occasion of the artist’s 80th birthday, an anniversary retrospective exhibition was organized in the Exhibition Hall of the Moscow Union of Artists on Kuznetsky Most.
