Graphic artist, painter, filmstrip artist, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts. Born in the Kyiv region, in the village of Baryshevka. Since 1933 he studied in Moscow, in the art studio of N.V. Sinitsyn (1937-1940), at the Moscow Secondary Art School (1940-1947) in the class of V.V. Pochivalov, and then at the Moscow Art Institute. V.I.Surikov (1947-1953). In 1954 he moved to Novosibirsk, where he worked mainly in the portrait genre (the “Theoreticians” series, etc.). At the turn of the 50s and 60s. joined the so-called “severe style,” which is usually characterized by dark colors and expressive heavy strokes. At the same time, he worked on children's book illustration and taught. He illustrated children's books: “The Adventures of Jacony” by Y. Magalif and “Bambi” by F. Salten (1958), “Grandfather’s Tales.” A. Chersky (1959), “My Friend Sparrow” by L. I. Davydychev (1960), “Masters of the Taiga” by G. F. Kungurov (1963), a collection of fairy tales of the peoples of Siberia about animals “Children of the Beast Maana” (1988), etc. In the 1960s. became one of the masters who determine the face of Novosibirsk fine art. In 1967 he moved to Vladimir, since 1971 he lived and worked in Troitsk, Moscow region. In 1995 he left for Israel, where he settled in the city of Safed. Awarded medals from the Academy of Arts. The works are in the Novosibirsk State Art Museum, in private collections in Russia and abroad.
