Academician of historical painting. Popular artist in Poland. Representative of international academic art of the second half of the 19th century. Author of numerous portraits of Polish nobility, genre scenes and historical paintings. His works on literary subjects are known, in particular, based on the novel by A. Dumas “The Three Musketeers”. Since 1863 lived and worked in Paris. In 1865-1883. participated in exhibitions at the Paris Salon.
