Since 1900, the artist studied painting in the famous studio of Fernand Cormon. Already at the 1905 salon, the master received the Edmond LEMAITRE prize for the painting “Embankment of the Dorsay”. In 1906 he was awarded the State Prize for the Encouragement of Art. In 1925, a personal exhibition of Gaston Balande took place in Brussels, after which the artist received the Order of the Legion of Honor. In 1926, his exhibitions were held in Geneva and Milan. The artist's works were purchased for the Paris Museum of Luxembourg and the Museum of Modern Art.
