Barshch Alexander Osipovich

One of the members of the OST (Society of Easel Painters, consisting of Vkhutemas graduates D.P. Shterenberg, A.A. Deineka, Yu.I. Pimenov, A.G. Tyshler, M.V. Dobrokovsky and many others), participant in exhibitions (1925,1927). He studied at the State Free Art Workshops - Vkhutemas in Moscow (1918–1925). Student of I. I. Mashkov and V. N. Yakovlev. In the 1920s he designed propaganda trains, exhibitions, and made posters. In 1923–1932 he worked as a film artist; worked on the cartoons “Counting Chickens in the Autumn” (1927), “Night Alarm” (1928), “The Adventures of Bratishkin” (1929). He painted portraits, genre and thematic paintings, landscapes and still lifes. Author of the following works: “Blacksmith-Order Bearer S. Faustov at the Hammer”, “Car Repair” (both 1927), “Suvorov Soldiers” (1948), a series of watercolors “Dancing Baluchis” (1936). Since 1925 he has participated in exhibitions (the First traveling exhibition of paintings in Kazan). Exhibited at the following exhibitions: “Industry of Socialism” (1939), the Union of Moscow Artists (1940) in Moscow. He taught at the Moscow Secondary Art School (1940–1958). Author of the book “Educational drawing in a secondary art school” (Moscow, 1957). The artist’s work is presented in the best museums in the country.
