Bart Viktor Sergeevich (1887 - 1954)

Painter, art theorist. In 1906 - 1911 he studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he met M. Larionov, N. Goncharova, D. Burliuk, V. Mayakovsky. Since 1911, he studied at the School of Drawing at the College of Arts and the Higher Art School at the Academy of Arts. In the 1910s, Bart was known as an avant-garde artist, organizer and participant in the exhibitions “Jack of Diamonds” (1910-1911), “Donkey’s Tail” (1912), and “Target” (1913). From 1917 he lived in Paris, wrote paintings and theoretical articles about painting. Participated in Parisian exhibitions. In 1925, together with Soviet artists, he designed the USSR pavilion at the international Paris exhibition. In 1936 he returned to the USSR and was engaged in book illustration. The author's works are in many museum and private collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin, in the collection of the State Museum of V.V. Mayakovsky, Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
