In 1959 he graduated from the Moscow Art School “In Memory of 1905”, a student of V.N. Baksheeva. He worked as an illustrator for the publishing houses: “Young Guard”, “Soviet Writer”, “Detgiz”. Since 1965 worked in easel graphics. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1967. In 1974. moved to the easel painting section. A regular participant in all Moscow, republican and all-Union art exhibitions. Personal exhibitions of V.I. Baryshkova took place in Moscow in 1969, 1985, 2001, 2004, 2005. The artist’s works are in regional art and local history museums, in private collections in the CIS countries and abroad: in Japan, France, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Italy. More than 30 graphic and painting works were purchased from exhibitions by the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Artists of the USSR - RSFSR and the Moscow Union of Artists.
