Graduated from Moscow State Art Institute named after. V.I. Surikov from the workshop of S.V. Gerasimova. He worked as a painter and illustrator of Russian literature. He worked mainly in book graphics, collaborated with Belgosizdat, Goslitizdat. Designed and illustrated books by I.S. Turgenev “On the Eve” (1949, originals in the Tretyakov Gallery), “Rudin” (1952). A.M. Gorky, N.A. Nekrasova, “White Nights” by F.M. Dostoevsky, “Stories” by A.P. Chekhov (1956, originals in the Tretyakov Gallery), “The Fate of Man” by M.A. Sholokhov (1961-1962). Participant of exhibitions since 1945. Works by B.M. Basov's works were exhibited at the International Book Exhibition in Leipzig (1959). The artist’s personal exhibition took place in 1961 in Moscow. Works by B.M. Basov are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Literary Museum, and the A.M. Gorky in Moscow and many regional museums.
