Baturin Alexander Borisovich (1914, Helsingfors

1931 – 1934 – took painting and drawing lessons from V.V. Sterligov, a student of K. Malevich and P. Filonov. Among his students, he was arrested (1934); from 1938 to 1946 he was imprisoned in Stalin’s camps. In 1956 he was rehabilitated, returned to Leningrad, and resumed joint creative activities with Sterligov. Since 1973 – member of the Union of Artists. Since 1998 - honorary member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists. The first laureate of the award. N. Punina (1994). In 2002 he was awarded the Order of Friendship. The works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, and private collections.
