Soviet artist and painter. Honored Artist of the Georgian SSR (1961). From 1906 to 1910, he studied at the Tiflis Art School, and from 1911 at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. He lived in Tbilisi. From 1912, he participated in exhibitions. He taught at the M.I. Toidze Art Studio (1922 - 1929) and the Tbilisi Academy of Arts (1929 - 1938). The artist's works are represented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Art Gallery of Armenia, the State Museum of Oriental Art, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, as well as in museum and private collections abroad.
