Graphic artist, cartoonist, master of book illustration. People's Artist of the RSFSR, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts, Vice-President of the Academy of Arts (since 1988), Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1978). Studied with A.D. Goncharov and P.G. Zakharov, continued the traditions of the school of V.A. Favorsky. Participant of exhibitions since 1955. In the 1960s. designed books for a number of large publishing houses, worked on creating illustrations for works of Russian and foreign classics, ancient epic, political literature, satire, and books for children. In the 1980s, on the eve of the 800th anniversary of Prince Igor’s campaign, he created a series of illustrations for “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign” (1988). He supervised the artistic design of the World Library series (200 volumes). Personal exhibition of works by D.S. The Bisti took place in Moscow in 1975. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and in private collections in Russia and abroad.
