Alexey Alekseevich Bobrov, who as a volunteer student at the Academy of Arts (since 1866) learned painting skills. He worked all his life in St. Petersburg. And he mostly painted interiors of rooms or genre scenes, again taking place indoors. Hence the names of the works written by the artist: Pranks of a cat (1867), In the rooms (1869), Report (1870), Interior view of a room (1873), Preparing lessons (1874), etc. These were paintings by a very young artist, giving an idea of his developing skill. Apparently, internal dissatisfaction with what was written or a real assessment of his capabilities in painting lead to the fact that from 1875 Alexey Bobrov began to master the work of an engraver and until the end of the artist’s life his engravings became famous - genre scenes and portraits of famous Russians. Among the latter is the Portrait of Chancellor Prince A.M. Gorchakov (1883) and Portrait of the fabulist I.A. Krylova (1885).
