Russian artist, the first painter of the Arctic, writer, public figure, explorer of the polar lands, who made a significant contribution to the development of issues of transport and economic development of the North. The artist's works were exhibited at the spring St. Petersburg exhibitions of 1900-1905. Borisov's success allowed him to hold exhibitions in Austria, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Paris. The French government awarded the artist the Order of the Legion of Honor. In 1907, the famous polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen visited Borisov’s exhibition in London and presented the artist with the Order of St. Olav on behalf of the governments of Sweden and Norway. And the British government awarded the artist the Order of the Bath. Currently, Borisov's works are stored in the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Arkhangelsk Regional Museum, the Nenets District Museum and other museums in Russia.
