Painter. Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 1968-70 worked as a set designer at the Moscow Academic Theater named after Vladimir Mayakovsky. Studied painting in the studio of E.A. Dodonov (1968-1973). In 1971-1976. studied at the Moscow Printing Institute (department of artistic and technical design of printed materials). Member of the Association of Young Artists and Art Critics of the Moscow Union of Artists of the RSFSR (1976). Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1983). Brainin paints Moscow from life. Brainin’s individual style was formed from a combination of the traditions of primitivism, compositional techniques of old photography and masterful use of the brush. His paintings are philosophical, with elements of surrealism, but this is the world surrounding the artist, saturated with a romantic attitude to reality. Works are in collections: State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), Museum of Contemporary Art ART4.RU (Moscow), Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts (Ekaterinburg), Kaliningrad Art Gallery, Kherson Art Museum.
