He studied at the Odessa Art School (1896-1902) with L.I. Iorini, K.K. Kostandi and G.A. Ladyzhensky. In 1902 he entered the Academy of Arts, where he studied with P.S. Myasoedova, Ya.F. Tsionglinsky, and since 1903 with I.E. Repina. He took an active part in exhibitions of the Academy of Arts, SRH, TPHV, “World of Art”, etc. In 1908, for the painting “Warm Day” and the portrait of L.M. Brodsky received the title of artist from the Academy of Arts. After the October Revolution, historical and revolutionary themes became central to his work. The artist’s works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and in the museum-apartment of I.I. Brodsky, in regional museums, as well as in private collections.
