Brodsky Vsevolod Ilyich

Brodsky Vsevolod Ilyich (1909–1983).

Painter, graphic artist. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR. He studied at the art studio of D. I. Shatan in Pskov (1925–1928), the Institute of Proletarian Fine Arts in Leningrad (1928–1932) with K. S. Petrov-Vodkin, A. A. Rylov, M. L. Baichuk. Lived in Moscow. He was engaged in easel and monumental painting, book graphics. After a trip to Karakalpakstan in the early 1930s, he performed (together with T. A. Gippius) a number of paintings, sketches and sketches (1934–1935). He painted mainly landscapes and genre compositions. Since 1935 - participant of exhibitions. In the 1930s - the main artist of the hall of the Karakalpak Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic at the All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition. He worked as an art editor at the Molodaya Gvardiya publishing house (since 1948). As a book artist and illustrator, he worked for Detgiz, the publishing houses “Young Guard”, “Soviet Writer”, etc. In the 1950s and 60s he completed a series of watercolors and drawings (ink and pen) on Eastern themes. An exhibition of Brodsky's works was held in 1935 in Moscow. Brodsky's works are in a number of museum collections, including the Russian Ethnographic Museum.
