Artist, engraver. Known as a master of woodcuts, linocuts and lithographs. Participant in art exhibitions since 1927. In the early 30s he moved to Moscow, collaborating with various publishing houses. From 1935 to 1941 he studied at the advanced training department of the Moscow State Art Institute under A. N. Usachev and G. V. Fedorov. During these same years, he worked a lot with woodcuts, linocuts and lithographs, and visited the studio organized by the City Graphic Committee under the direction of V.A. Favorsky. During the 1940-1941 season, he completed an internship at GOSET (Moscow State Jewish Theater). Since the beginning of the war, he has been working on camouflaging military installations; in 1942, he was evacuated to Tashkent, where he led a team for the decoration of various objects.
