Bryansky Mikhail Vasilievich

Bryansky Mikhail Vasilievich (1830-1908).

Born in Kyiv in 1831. From 1850 to 1855 he studied drawing with Academician K. S. Pavlov, who taught drawing at the University of St. Vladimir, then painted in Little Russia, mainly portraits. In 1864 he arrived in St. Petersburg and until 1869 he annually received honors at the Academy of Arts in gradual order. In 1867 he was awarded the title of class artist of the second degree for the painting “Girl Sitting in Armchairs.” Bryansky received the title of artist of the 1st degree along with a gold medal for expression in the painting: “The Bride Who Received Back the Wedding Ring” (property of the Academy). He painted many portraits and women's heads. The works are kept in the Museum of Ukrainian Fine Arts in Kyiv, in the Odessa Art Museum, the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum and other collections.
