Buranov Nikolay Alekseevich (1920 - 1991)

Soviet painter, member of the Leningrad Union of Artists. In 1937-1939 he studied at the Sverdlovsk Art School. After the third year he was drafted into the Red Army, where he served until the end of the Great Patriotic War. After demobilization he returns to study. After graduating from college, he works as a graphic designer in the Serov Palace of Culture. In 1954 he entered the painting department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. E. Repin, from which he graduated in 1960 in the workshop of I. Serebryany. After defending his diploma, he studied in the creative workshop of Boris Ioganson. In 1962 he was accepted as a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists. He has participated in exhibitions since 1960, exhibiting his works along with works by leading masters of fine art in Leningrad. He painted genre paintings, landscapes, and still lifes. He worked at the creative base of Leningrad artists in Staraya Ladoga. The works of N. A. Buranov are in museums and private collections in Russia, Ukraine, Japan, France, Great Britain and other countries.
