Bykovsky Nikolay Mikhailovich

Bykovsky Nikolai Mikhailovich (1834-1917).

Russian artist, academician of painting. He also worked in icon painting, wall paintings in churches and restoration of icons. He was educated at the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture in the 1850s. Among the teachers, Bykovsky's greatest attention was attracted by M. I. Scotti, an artist and academician who worked in various genres of fine art. Under his leadership, Bykovsky received a small silver medal from the Academy of Arts of St. Petersburg for one of his student works, and in 1857 - the title of free artist. For some time, Bykovsky attended classes at the Academy of Arts, but then went to Italy, where his teacher M. I. Scotti lived in Rome at that time, whose advice the artist again began to use. His works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Abramtsevo Museum-Reserve.
