Famous Ukrainian painter. Father of the popular artist Sergei Chepik (born 1953), now living in France. Until 1951 he studied at the Kiev Art Institute with A.A. Shovkunenko. Lived and worked in Kyiv. Among his most famous works are thematic paintings of the 1950-1960s: “High-Rise Workers”, “Blast Furnace Workers”, “Miners”, “Hockey Players”. In the late 1960s he worked on landscapes of Central Asia. In the 1970s created a series of pastels with views of Moscow. The impressions received on creative trips abroad are reflected in pastels with views of France and Czechoslovakia. Works by M.M. Chepik are in the collections of the Kyiv Museum of Russian Art, as well as in other art museums in Russia and Ukraine.
