Chirkov Sergey Ivanovich

Professor, artist and painter. Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Exhibition of military artists of the Southern Group of Soviet Forces, held in Romania (1946). Studied at Moscow State Art Institute named after. V.I. Surikov at the graphic faculty (1948-1954). From 1956 to 1994 he taught drawing at the Institute. Surikov, including in the workshop of V. G. Tsyplakov, was the dean of the painting faculty, professor of the drawing department. Later, for several years he worked as Deputy Minister of Culture of the RSFSR. In 1985, on the initiative of the artist, the first rural art gallery in the Vladimir region was created in his native village of Panfilovo.
