Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts. People's Artist of the USSR. Laureate of the State Prizes of the USSR, the Toktogul Prize and the International Prize named after J. Nehru. The founder of modern Kyrgyz fine art. In the city of Verny (now Alma-Ata) he took painting lessons from the artist and teacher N.G. Khludov (1918-1920). In 1924-1930 he studied at the Moscow Vkhutemas (Higher Art and Technical Workshops) in the workshop of R.R. Falk. Later he worked a lot as a teacher, including at the Institute of Proletarian Fine Arts (formerly the Higher Art and Technical Institute, Vkhutein) in Leningrad (1930-1932). He was one of the founders and chairman of the board of the Union of Artists of the Kirghiz SSR (1933-1937, 1941-1943). The works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum.
