A Russian lithographer and publisher of Italian origin, who played a significant role in the development of printmaking in 19th-century Russia. He actually contributed to the popularization of fine art through the replication of works by other artists. In his youth, he came to Russia from Italy and in 1828 opened a lithographic workshop in Moscow, which soon became one of the leading in the country. His brand produced portraits, city views, genre scenes, and book illustrations, often based on drawings by famous artists of the time. These publications were very popular and actually served as exhibition materials for the general public, although the master himself did not exhibit as a painter or graphic artist. The works published by the workshop of Joseph Datsiaro are kept in the largest Russian museums and collections. Russian Russian lithographs are represented in the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum as examples of early Russian lithography. A significant part of his publications are in the departments of engraving and graphics of the Russian State Library and the Russian National Library (St. Petersburg). Daciaro's lithograph collections are also available in regional museums specializing in art history and bookmaking. Individual sheets are found in private collections, where they are valued as monuments of printed graphics of the mid-19th century and as sources on the history of everyday culture of the Russian Empire.
