Russian landscape painter, follower of "romantic academicism". He studied at the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture (1843-1848) under K. I. Rabus. Since 1850, he has been a free—lance student at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg under the guidance of M. N. Vorobyov. His last works were shown at academic exhibitions: in 1855 and in 1857. Ivan Grigoryevich Davydov's works are in the largest museums in the country: the Tretyakov Gallery, the Scientific Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts (St. Petersburg), the State Russian Museum and others, as well as in Finland.
