Dobrov Matvey Alekseevich

Graphic artist, painter Studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Moscow University (1897–1900), in the Studio of K. F. Yuon and I. O. Dudin (1900–1901), MUZHVZ (1901–1905) with A. S. Stepanov, A. E. Arkhipov, K. A. Korovin, V. A. Serov, L. O. Pasternak. In 1904 for drawings and 1906 for sketches he was awarded small silver medals. Participated in the design of revolutionary holidays in Moscow (1918), propaganda trains named after. V.I. Lenin (1918), painted posters and popular prints. He headed the etching department at the State School of Printing at the First Model Printing House (1919). A regular exhibitor of exhibitions in the country and abroad since 1907. Member of the Union of Artists since 1932. He taught at the Printing Institute (1933–1934), at the State Art Institute named after. V.I. Surikov (1935–1958), in the Etching Studio named after. I.I. Nivinsky (1950s). Illustrated books and made bookplates. The artist’s works are kept in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Pushkin Museum and in other museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
