The duet of Vladimir Dubossarsky and Alexander Vinogradov took shape in the mid-90s of the twentieth century. Over the past six years, artists have gone from local to global fame. Both project participants graduated from the Institute. Surikov. Without abandoning the traditions of Soviet painting, or rather, having adopted the basic requirements of socialist realism, Dubossarsky-Vinogradov are reviving the genre of monumental thematic canvas. A bright palette, “impossible” meetings of heterogeneous, diverse characters on the plane of the canvas multiply real fans of the virtual order. The pictorial language of Dubossarsky-Vinogradov, like many representatives of contemporary painting, is understood as text, but, unlike its predecessors, this language is easily perceived by the viewer without decoding. Naked unbridled tractor drivers; Helmut Kohl at the wedding of young Germans; romantic and significant heroes - Yeltsin and Lebed; Stallone, drawing a posing Schwarzenegger in a circle of children - cheerful virtual fantasies (quite in the spirit of socialist realism) expose the way of modern thinking with all its paradoxical twists.
