Ermolaev Adrian Mikhailovich (1900, Rostov-on-Don - 1977, Moscow).

Schedule. He studied at the Bogolyubov Drawing School in Saratov (1915–1917) with L. O. Nikulin, then at the Leningrad Art and Industrial College (1925–1927) with N. I. Dormidontov, V. S. Svarog, P. A. Shillingovsky. Awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1946). Collaborated with the publishing houses “Children's Literature”, “Soviet Writer”, “Young Guard” and others. He collaborated in the magazines “Our Achievements” (1929–1935), “30 Days” (1934–1940), and “Murzilka” (since 1946). Designed the books: “The Fourth Dugout” (1931), “School” (1946), “Collected Works” (1955–1956), “Little Stories” (1956), “Chuk and Gek” (1960), “Timur and His Team” (1964, 1972, 1975), “RVS” (1967), “Distant Countries” (1967) by A. P. Gaidar, “Kochubey” by A. A. Perventsev (1938), “History of the Civil War” (1939, 1942, 1957; in collaboration with other illustrators), “Chapaenok” by A. S. Mogilevskaya (1939), “Suvorov” by K. S. Simonov (1940), “Rook - Bird” spring" by D. S. Mstislavsky (1941, 1967, 1974), "Stepan Razin" by S. P. Zlobin (1942), "Your Defenders" (1942, 1954, 1972), "The Great Confrontation" (1947, 1964, 1976), "My Dear Boys" (1956) by L. A. Kassil, “Military Post” (1944), “Fairy tales, songs, riddles” (1947, 1955), “How your book was printed” (1960), “All year round” (1964) by S. Ya. Marshak, “First joys” (1946, 1967), “An extraordinary summer” (1947), “Boys” (1957) by K. A. Fedina, “I live in Moscow” by A. L. Barto (1947), “Chapaev” by D. A. Furmanov (1955), “Favorites” by K. G. Paustovsky (1961) and others. For illustrations for the books “The Snow Maiden” by A. N. Ostrovsky (1966) he was awarded a 2nd degree diploma at the All-Union competition “Best Publications of 1966–1967”; “Ice Breaker” by K. Ya. Gorbunov (1973) - a 2nd degree diploma at the All-Union competition “Best Publications of 1973”. He also worked in easel graphics. He completed the following cycles of works: “Sukhumi” (1955–1962; watercolor, tempera), “Volga” (1961; gouache), “Presnya. 1905" (1964–1968; monotype, ink, pen), "Red Guards of October" (1967; monotype, tempera), "October in Moscow" (1970–1971, watercolor, tempera). He created a number of works on the themes of the Great Patriotic War (“Parade on Red Square in 1941”, 1941; “At the Destroyed Hearth”, 1942). In 1967, for easel works (the series “Presnya. 1905” and “Red Guards of October”) he was awarded a silver medal of the USSR Academy of Arts. He exhibited his works at exhibitions: works by Moscow artists (1936, 1961), “Works by Moscow artists during the days of the Great Patriotic War” (1942), “30 years of the Soviet Armed Forces” (1948), exhibitions of works by book artists (1955, 1957), watercolors by Moscow artists (1956), “Asia, Africa, Latin America” (1961), All-Union art exhibitions (1954, 1955, 1961, 1969, 1969), “Artists for Kids” (1963, 1964, 1966), “Soviet Russia” (1965, 1967), “Artists of Moscow for the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution” (1967) in Moscow, exhibition drawing, illustration, poster (1940) in Leningrad and Moscow and others. The artist’s work is represented in many museum collections, including the State Russian Museum.
