Painter and writer. He studied at the Kiev Art School with A.V. Bouguereau. In 1900 he moved to Paris. He studied at the Academy of R. Julien and often visited the workshop of Marcel Bachet. He took part in the “Salon of Independents”. He communicated with avant-garde artists, among whom were P. Picasso, A. Matisse, A. Derain, F. Picabia. In 1910, Serge Ferat became interested in the theory and practice of Cubism. In 1919-1920 he became one of the main exhibitors of the revived Golden Section group, devoted to the ideas of Cubism. In 1921 - 1923 he collaborated with the Russian magazine "Udar". The artist's works are in the collections of the Center Georges Pompidou, the Paris Museum of Modern Art and other major museums in the world, as well as in private collections.
