Painter. People's Artist of the USSR (1976), laureate of the Stalin Prize of the second degree (1947). In 1924-1930 studied at the Higher Art and Technical Institute with N.M., Chernyshev, V.A. Favorsky, K.N. Istomina. In 1929 he joined the Association of Artists of the Revolution. In 1939, together with A.A. Plastov and A.P. Bubnov participated in the creation of the panel “Noble People of the Land of the Soviets” for the Soviet pavilion at the World Exhibition in New York. All-Union fame and European fame brought the artist his work “For Dinner with Mothers” (1935), which was a great success in Paris at the international art exhibition in 1937 and was awarded a Gold Medal. The artist’s personal exhibition took place in Moscow in 1996. The works are stored in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Russian Art in Kyiv, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, and the Central Museum of the Russian Army.
