Painter, professor of painting at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. He comes from an impoverished old noble family in the Ryazan province. S.S. Glushkov is a recognized master of realistic genre painting and landscape. Graduated with honors from the Art and Pedagogical College named after. 1905 and received a recommendation to the Art Institute under the leadership of I.I. Grabar (later the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov). I.I. Grabar enrolled him in the first year without exams, uttering a symbolic phrase: “Why teach him when he is already a ready-made artist.” Over the years of studying in the workshop of S.V. Gerasimov, Gerasimov passed on to his beloved student not only the secrets of the artist’s mastery of the painter, but also the techniques of the artist’s mastery of the teacher. The master's lessons were not in vain. In 1950, S.S. Glushkov completed his postgraduate studies, taught painting at the Faculty of Graphics and watercolor painting at the graphic workshop of B.A. Dekhtereva. His students at different times were outstanding artists of our time: academicians brothers A.P. and S.P. Tkachevs, T.T. Salakhov, B.A. Uspensky, L.V. Shepelev, V. Ostrovsky and others. The works are in museums in cities of Russia and the CIS countries, in private collections.
