Grigoriev Sergey Alekseevich (1910, Lugansk - 1988, Kyiv).

Soviet painter and graphic artist. People's Artist of the USSR (1974). Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1958). Winner of two Stalin Prizes of the second degree (1950, 1951). He studied at the Zaporizhzhya Art and Professional School (1923-1926), at VKHUTEMAS in the workshop of V. A. Favorsky (1926-1927), KGHI (1928-1932) with F. G. Krichevsky. In 1947 he was appointed professor, head of the department of drawing at the KHI. 1951-1955 - rector of the Kyiv Art Institute and head of the genre painting workshop of the Kyiv State Art Institute. The artist’s work has been studied in various publications, essays, and articles. Many monographs have been published. The author's works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, many regional museums and in private collections.
