Soviet artist, graphic artist, illustrator, and designer of children's books. He created a number of well-known propaganda and political posters in the tradition of socialist realism. He was a member of the USSR Union of Artists and a board member of the graphics section of the Moscow Union of Artists. From 1925 to 1930, he studied at the Odessa Art Institute. From the 1930s, he worked for Ogonyok magazine, and from 1935, he contributed to the magazines Smena, Rabotnitsa, Krestyanka, Molodoy Kolkhoznik, and Znanie — Sila. He later worked with the publishing houses Detgiz, Detsky Mir, Molodaya Gvardiya, and Izogiz. The artist's works are represented in the collections of the State Historical Museum, the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Library, and other museum and private collections.
