Mikhail Lvovich Gurevich (1904 - 1943)

Soviet artist and graphic artist. From 1925 to 1930, he studied at Vkhutemas (Higher Art and Technical Studios) in Moscow, first in the ceramics department and then in the painting workshop of D.P. Shterenberg. From 1930, he became a member of OST. That same year, he participated in an exhibition of diploma paintings by Vkhutein graduates. After the split of OST in 1931, he joined the "Izobrigada" group. In the early 1930s, together with V.G. Tyagunov, I.V. Ivanovsky, and A.I. Igumnov, he founded the creative group "TIGI," with which he traveled to the Chiatura manganese mines in Georgia, then to Kuzbass and the Arctic. From 1932, he became a member of the Moscow Union of Artists of the USSR. The works are in a number of museum and private collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Smolensk State Museum-Reserve, and other museum and private collections.
