Painter, graphic artist, monumentalist, Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 1921-1925 he studied first at the art school of R. Reingbald, then in fine arts courses with Yu.R. Bershadsky, and in 1925-1930 - at the Odessa Art Institute with T.B. Fraerman. Since 1929 he was a member of the Association of Revolutionary Art of Ukraine (ARMU). In 1930-1932 he taught at the Odessa Art Institute, in 1932 he moved to Moscow and devoted himself to creative work. In 1942-1945 - in the active army. After the Great Patriotic War, he taught at the studio of war-disabled artists and at the same time at the Children's Art School (1946-1967). Main works: “Workers' Rest” (1929, oil on canvas), the series “Metro Girls” and “On the Construction of the Metro” (1932-1938, oil on canvas), “Moldavian Carpet Weavers” (1939, oil on canvas), “Moscow. 1941" (1941, oil on canvas), "Barricades on Bashilovka" (1942, oil on canvas), "Liberation of Donbass" (1965-1969), "Portrait of Angelica" (1982). Works are in museums in Moscow, Kyiv, Kaunas, Baku, Komsomolsk-on-Amur and various foreign galleries.
