Representative of Azerbaijani fine art, People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR (1979). In 1949, he graduated from the Azerbaijan State Art School named after Azim Azimzade. In 1955 he graduated from the Faculty of Graphics of the Moscow Art Institute named after Vasily Surikov. In 1964 he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist, and in 1979 - People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. In 1977, Yusif Huseynov was elected chairman of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan. In the same year, he was appointed secretary of the Board of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
