Description:Translation and foreword by S.M. Gorny. M.: OGIZ-IZOGIZ, 207 pp.: ill., 1 l. plan. Circulation 3000 copies. French architect of Swiss origin Le Corbusier (born Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, 1887-1965) is one of the founders of modernism and functionalism. Innovative buildings designed by the architect were built in Switzerland, France, Germany, the USA, Argentina, Japan, India, Brazil and Russia. The architect visited Moscow three times. In 1928, Le Corbusier took part in the competition for the construction of the People's Commissariat for Legislative Industry building (now the Tsentrosoyuz building on Myasnitskaya Street). The Centrosoyuz building was a new, unprecedented solution for Europe for a modern business building. In connection with the construction of the building, Le Corbusier repeatedly came to Moscow, where he met with Tairov, Meyerhold, Eisenstein, and admired the creative atmosphere that reigned in the USSR at that time. The architect was especially interested in the achievements of the Soviet architectural avant-garde - the work of the Vesnin brothers, Moses Ginzburg, and Konstantin Melnikov.
