In 1936, he took drawing lessons from the famous Turkish artist Abiddin Dino. In 1942 he entered the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts in the painting department. In 1944 he was arrested and imprisoned for political activities. In 1949 he emigrated from Turkey to Syria. In 1956 he moved to Poland and worked at a cartoon studio. In 1959 he left for China. Lives and works in Beijing. In 1961 he moved to Moscow. Works on radio as an editor-stylist. In 1963 he became a teacher of Turkish at the Institute of Oriental Languages. In 1968, a personal exhibition took place at the Central House of Artists in Moscow. In 1971, an exhibition in Vilnius. In 1974 he became a member of the USSR Union of Artists.
