Graphic artist. Born in Sarny (modern Ukraine). In 1925, he went to study in Kyiv, at the newly created Jewish Art and Industrial School there (formed on the basis of the Art Section of the Culture League), where young Jewish artists, under the leadership of Mark Epstein, mastered the artistic techniques of the avant-garde, applying them to Jewish themes and subjects. Like many artists in those years, Inger tries different styles, reworks them, uses them, and thus moves towards his own. At the end of the 1920s, Inger came to Moscow. In 1932 he took part in the First Exhibition of Young Artists of Moscow and was noticed. He joins the Moscow Union of Artists, studies with Miturich, Yuon and Kravchenko at the Faculty of Advanced Studies of the Moscow Art Institute named after Surikov. Works as a retoucher at Izvestia. After the war and evacuation, he worked for a short period at the Jewish publishing house Der Emes. Sholom Aleichem, Yitzchok-Leibush Peretz, and David Bergelson published his illustrations. Soon after the closure of Der Emes in 1948, Inger stopped trying to fit into the system. He no longer expects a workshop, exhibitions, or recognition. He works as a retoucher at the "Soviet Encyclopedia" and continues to draw his heroes - all his life, every day. Grigory Inger is an artist of modest, intimate exhibitions, kind, memorable illustrations. His works cannot be presented in large halls filled with audiences.
