Born in Saratov in 1924. Studied at the Saratov Art School (SAU) (1940–1942) with I.N. Shcheglova, B.V. Milovidova, M.D. Egorova. At the Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School (1945–1947) with P.V. Kuznetsova, A.V. Kuprina. In 1947 he returned to Saratov, graduated from the Union of Artists (1947–1948). From 1948 to 1952 he studied at the Moscow Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts under V.G. Odintsova, A.A. Deineki. In 1958, V. Kabanov graduated from the Moscow State Institute named after V.I. Surikov - workshop of P.I. Kotova, then P.P. Sokolov-Skal. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1958. He taught at the Royal University of Arts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia (1968–1969). Participant of republican, all-Union, and foreign exhibitions (since 1953). The works are in the Krasnoyarsk Art Museum, Saratov State Art Museum. A.N. Radishchev, private collections in Germany, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sweden, America. Kabanov had an inescapable, passionate desire to learn and teach. Over several decades, he trained many young artists. Victor Kabanov chose the path of a hermit, a thoughtful observer and traveler - benefits and conveniences were not important to him if they could in any way interfere with his painting. He did a lot to capture in paint the image of the era he inherited. Even if this era is not yet so distant from us, over time our vision will become sharper. And many things must be seen differently. He died in Moscow in 2007, after a long illness.
