Painter, teacher. In 1893-1901 he studied at the Moscow Stroganov School with S. A. Vinogradov, S. V. Ivanov, S. V. No-akovsky. After graduating from college, he lived and worked in Ukraine, teaching drawing in gymnasiums in the city of Voskresensk, Kherson province. (1901-05) and Odessa (1906-17), in 1920-30 - at the Odessa Institute of Public Education. From 1930 he lived in Moscow, taught in vocational schools - at the Moscow Art School. M.I. Kalinin (1932-38), at the art department of the Moscow Textile Institute (1936-40), at the Moscow Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (1938-40) and the Moscow Architectural Institute (1933-58). Author of the textbook "Practical Guide to Watercolor Painting" (Moscow, 1937). In his own work, K. developed the traditions of Russian plein air painting. 19 - beginning 20 centuries, devoted a lot of effort to architectural and landscape compositions. Since 1908, he participated in exhibitions of the Society of Russian Watercolor Painters, the Moscow Association of Artists, and the Art Society named after. K.K. Kostandi and other artistic associations. Among his works: paintings "The Kremlin. Moscow" (1908), "Boyar Estate" (1914), "Pines" (1915), watercolors "Architectural Views of Kolomenskoye" (1935, series), "Church in Safarino" (1948), "River in Autumn" (1968), "Dyakovo Village" (1973) and etc. He also worked in the field of theatrical and decorative art - he completed sketches of the stage design of the operas "Eugene Onegin" by P. I. Tchaikovsky (1925, Odessa Opera House) and "Boris Godunov" by M.P. Mussorgsky (1932, Tiflis Opera and Ballet Theater).
