He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1854-1857), where his teachers included K.I. Rabus and A.K. Savrasov, visited Germany and Switzerland and became perhaps the most notable Russian artist who painted subtle lyrical landscapes. In fact, the work of L.L. Kamenev extends over one decade - the 1860s. In 1869 L.L. Kamenev becomes an academician. In 1871, the painter actively acted as one of the founders of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions. The artist’s paintings are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum.
