Kamensky Valentin Alexandrovich

Kamensky Valentin Alexandrovich (1907 – 1975).

People's Architect of the USSR (1970). Member of the CPSU(b) since 1941. Graduated from LISI (1931), taught there, and became a professor from 1959. In 1943-51, he was the head of the architectural and planning workshop of Lenproekt. In 1951-71 ch. architect of Leningrad. One of the authors, Gen. development plan for Leningrad for 1960-80, planning and development projects for Stachek Avenue (1951-55) and Komsomolskaya Square (1956), the Oktyabrsky concert hall (1967), architect of part of the monument to the defenders of Leningrad (1975, jointly with S.B. Speransky) and other structures. Author of the book. “Leningrad today and tomorrow” (1962). Lenin Prize laureate (1978)
