Painter. He studied at the Academy of Arts since 1884. The works were exhibited at exhibitions of the Moscow Academy of Artists, the Academy of Arts, and the St. Petersburg Society of Artists. Since the late 1890s. studied and developed problems of painting technology, worked on the restoration of fresco techniques. Author of works on painting technology. He taught at the Academy of Arts (1910-1915, head of the decorative painting technique workshop), Vkhutemas - IZhSA (1923-1942).
