Porcelain artist. She received her artistic education at the school of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, from which she graduated in 1910 with a degree in ceramics. After completing her studies, she was sent abroad, where she studied porcelain painting at famous factories in Denmark, Sweden and France. Upon returning to Russia, she worked in private artist studios. In 1912 she entered the Imperial Porcelain Factory, but left in 1914 and then worked as a nurse in a military hospital for four years. In 1918, the artist began her creative career at the State Porcelain Factory in the branch of the painting workshop of the State Porcelain Plant, based on the former school of Baron Stieglitz. Kobyletskaya worked at the porcelain factory until 1932 with some breaks. In 1924, together with M. Adamovich, M. Bryantseva, M. Kirillova and other artists, she was brought to work at the Novgubfarfor porcelain factories. During her time working at the LFZ, she created about 1,500 original compositions for painting porcelain products. In 1932, due to health reasons, Kobyletskaya left the factory and began illustrating scientific, mainly botanical, publications of the USSR Academy of Sciences, the All-Union Institute of Plant Growing and other scientific institutions. In 1947, under an agreement with the LFZ, the artist painted compositions for three porcelain sets. In the last years of his life he worked as an illustrator at the Botanical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences on the publications “Flora of the USSR”, “Flora of Tajikistan” and the atlas of Medgiz. Zinaida Kobyletskaya's works were exhibited at numerous exhibitions in Petrograd-Leningrad, Moscow, and abroad. It is worth noting the success at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1925 with the presentation of an honorary diploma, the international exhibitions of industrial and decorative arts in Monza and Milan in 1927 with the presentation of a diploma and a gold medal. Also, the artist’s work was recognized at the world exhibitions in Paris and New York in 1937 and 1939, respectively.
