Kofengauz Yuri Berngardovich 1929

Born in Moscow on December 28, 1929. In 1951 he graduated from three courses at the Faculty of Philology (Art History Department) of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov. In 1955 he graduated from the Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School (formerly Stroganov). He considers his teachers: his mother's sister - N. Udaltsova, V. Komar-Denkov, D. Domogatsky, V. Ermolov and People's Artist of the USSR, full member of the USSR Academy of Arts S. Gerasimov. Thesis work is a multi-figure composition “The Decembrist Uprising on Senate Square in 1825.” He first participated in the First Youth Exhibition in 1953 with his work “Korean Woman” (encaustic), which was exhibited at the All-Union Exhibition in the Tretyakov Gallery in 1954, in 1955 in Warsaw and in 1958 at the World Exhibition in Brussels. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1956. Author of paintings: “The Decembrist Uprising on Senate Square in 1825” (oil, 1967, House-Museum of the Decembrists in Irkutsk); diptych “On War” and “On Peace” (tempera, 1973); “Portrait of a Girl”, “Girl” (hot enamels 1975-1976), etc. Among the monumental and decorative works, the most significant are: Monument in honor of the discovery of a diamond mine in Yakutia, Mirny, architect E. Ermolaev (relief with mosaic, 1970, diploma of the Moscow Union of Artists, 1975), “Spring of Turkmenistan” (smalt, facade of the Palace of Culture of Hydraulic Builders in Mary), “Map of Railways of the USSR and Europe” (iron, copper, 1965, railway ticket office hall in the building of the Metropol Hotel, Moscow). Regular participant of regional, republican and all-Union exhibitions. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Russia and the CIS countries, as well as in private collections, both in Russia and abroad.
