Kogakov Ivan Efimovich

Kogakov Ivan Efimovich (1895-1958)

Soviet painter, member of the AHRR (Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia) and the Ministry of Agriculture (Moscow Union of Artists). He was born in the village of Tsarevshchyna, Penza province, into a peasant family. As a child, he was apprenticed to the printing house of I. D. Sytin in Moscow, where he worked for 20 years. 12 He studied drawing and painting at the Proletkult, and then at the Central Studio of the AHRR, from which he graduated in 1928 from I. I. Mashkov. He lived and worked in the vicinity of Zvenigorod. Kogakov's works regularly participated in major exhibitions of the AHRR in the 1930s. Among the exhibited works are the paintings "Altai" and "Self—Portrait", the latter was acquired by the State Tretyakov Gallery. The artist's works are kept in the collection of the Penza Art Gallery named after K. A. Savitsky, the State Tretyakov Gallery, as well as in a number of other Russian museums and private collections.
