Russian and Soviet painter, sculptor, animal painter. Honored Artist of the RSFSR. People's Artist of the RSFSR. Known as an illustrator of many children's books, magazines "Firefly" and "Murzilka". He designed books at the publishing house of I. D. Sytin. During the Great Patriotic War he performed posters in support of children's health. He painted many paintings that were known to Soviet children from school age. A. N. Komarov illustrated books by naturalist writers: Peter Manteuffel, Georgy Skrebitsky, Evgeny Spangenberg, Vera Chaplina. The artist’s works are in the State Darwin Museum (Moscow), Kursk Regional Art Gallery, Moscow Regional Museum of Local Lore (Istra), Kolomna Regional Museum of Local Lore (Kolomna), Biological Museum.
