Studied at the drawing school of V.S. Rozanov in Moscow. Then he studied at MUZHVZ with V.E. Makovsky, V.D. Polenova, I.M. Pryanishnikova. In 1891 he received the title of non-class artist. Winner of two small and one large silver medals. In 1912 he visited Italy. Participated in exhibitions of the Academy of Arts, MOLKH, MTH since 1888. He made illustrations for the works of N.V. Gogol, stories by M.Yu. Lermontov. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery and in many regional museums.
