Painter, theater artist. People's Artist of the RSFSR, full member of the USSR Academy of Arts, laureate of the USSR State Prize (1943). He studied at the Julien Academy in Paris (1897–1898) with B. Costan and J.-P. Laurana. In 1907 he graduated from the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, studied with V.E. Savinsky, G.R. Zalemana and P.O. Kovalevsky. Traveled extensively throughout Europe. Experienced the influence of V.I. Surikov, who was his father-in-law. Then he came under the influence of P. Cezanne’s creative method, which was cultivated by members of the “Jack of Diamonds” association. Konchalovsky was one of the founders and active members of this association (since 1910). Since the 1930s. In Konchalovsky’s works, the features of academic realism become more and more noticeable, which are developed in his further work. Works by P.P. Konchalovsky are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and in all major museums of the country.
